Federal Regulations

The Mercury-Containing and Rechargeable Battery Management Act was implemented by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1996. The Act is meant to promote recycling and decrease the number of dangerous toxins that make it into landfills and groundwater. Some states have additional guidelines that companies must adhere to as well. Federal regulations mandate the documented proper removal, recycling, and disposal of commercial-grade batteries.
